Rana Daggubati recently found himself in a tangle of controversy after his comments at a recent event garnered widespread attention.
Speaking at an event for the film King Of Kotha, featuring Dulquer Salmaan, Rana shared a lighthearted anecdote about a “big Hindi cinema heroine” seemingly causing disruption on set due to a phone call with her London-based partner.
Speculation arose that Sonam Kapoor was the subject of his comments, considering her connection to Dulquer and her husband Anand Ahuja’s London residence.
Clarifying the matter on X (formerly Twitter), Rana expressed his regret for the unintended negativity caused by his comments.
He stated, “I am genuinely troubled by the negativity that has been aimed at Sonam due to my comments, that are totally untrue and were meant entirely in a light-hearted manner… I deeply regret that my words have been misinterpreted.” He went on to apologize to both Sonam and Dulquer, expressing his respect for them and hoping for an end to any misunderstandings.
Rana’s initial comment, intended to highlight Dulquer Salmaan’s professionalism, was misinterpreted, leading to the controversy. In his original statement, he praised Dulquer’s patience on set while mentioning an incident involving the “big Hindi heroine.” He highlighted how her phone conversation affected the shoot’s quality but praised Dulquer’s handling of the situation.
In response to the ongoing chatter, Sonam Kapoor shared a quote on her Instagram Stories from Eleanor Roosevelt, which emphasized focusing on ideas rather than discussing people or events.
Meanwhile, Dulquer Salmaan’s film “King Of Kotha” is set to release globally on August 24, creating anticipation among fans for its upcoming debut.
